Welcome to the Caja del Rio AERC Endurance Ride - June 11-12, 2016
Come spend June 11-12 with us, competing in an AERC sanctioned endurance ride in the Caja del Rio, a gorgeous part of the Santa Fe National Forest, just west of Santa Fe, NM! Haul in on Friday, ride Saturday-Sunday, and haul home on Monday! Our base camp will be in the Caja del Rio portion of the Santa Fe National Forest -- BEAUTIFUL! There will be plenty of horse water, with fun, well-marked trails (and good footing). Riders will be treated to scenic vistas of the Rio Grande valley, Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Jemez & Sandia Mountain ranges. We plan to have a good ride for the green horse and for riders new to endurance, in addition to the more experienced.
Please plan ahead! You must have proof of a Coggins and (if from Out-of-State) a health certificate; they will be checked at the ride. Check this website for updates on logistics and final instructions...
If you are planning on attending this ride, please use our contact form or email (listed below) to let us know you are coming. Volunteers are always welcome and we'll be providing lunch/snack/drinks and dinners for anyone who comes to help. If you are interested in learning more about endurance, this is a also GREAT way to see how a ride works! Questions? Please contact us and we'll be happy to get you more information. By the way, base camp is very close to Santa Fe for non-riders and close enough to go for tack, feed, gas, groceries, restaurants and the like.
Special thanks to the Santa Fe National Forest for sponsoring this event and Miles Standish, in particular, for making the permit process as painless as possible & enjoying a few laughs along the way.
This ride is being held by Listening Horse Therapeutic Riding, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Profits will be used to support their Santa Fe program. Through the healing touch of horses, Listening Horse Therapeutic Riding and its PATH Intl. Equine Services for Heroes program provides opportunities to improve the emotional, physical, and/or neurological health of active military, veterans and their families, and anyone living with a special challenge. At no cost to the participant, activities working with horses – whether grooming or riding – are provided under the supervision of highly trained and dedicated staff and community volunteers.
